Abstract: The extensive use of screen-containing devices has significantly increased screen-induced ocular degeneration. Studies show that up to 90% of people who spend over three hours daily on digital screens experience symptoms like headaches, blurred vision, and eye discomfort. Even minor refractive errors can severely impact the quality of life and lead to more serious conditions. Vitreous floaters, affecting about 30% of individuals over 50, are a common sign of declining ocular health. If untreated, they can lead to retinal detachment, which affects roughly 1 in 10,000 people annually and can cause permanent vision loss. Although not immediately threatening, floaters cause significant discomfort, disrupting visual fields and daily activities, and negatively impacting mental health. Up to 50% of those with persistent floaters report decreased quality of life. This review consists of understanding the formation and causes of vitreous floaters and evaluating treatment options like vitrectomy and laser therapy, which have success rates of 85-90%. The review also considers the treatments available in ancient forms of medicine like Ayurveda and Homeopathy.
